First Piano Lesson

Me Too's first "real" piano lesson with Mommy.  I was going to wait until September (start of first grade like his brother) but he insisted that "today was the day!"  I was just eyeballing that Bjorn stool thinking, "Do we still need this around the house?"  I'm glad I figured out that we do before it went to the thrift shop.

  1. It is so cool that you can teach him! He looks natural up there on the stool.:)

    1. I can teach him for a while anyway :) Hopefully he'll pass me up by middle school.

  2. I agree... So wonderful that they have you to teach them. I see that you have a Celviano. How do you like it? I have been eyeing the Privia 850...

    1. It is GREAT. It is my second digital piano that we've had at home and one of dozens I've worked with over the years. LOVE it. Its an AP-650. Our last piano was a Kurzweil that had the necessary basics and was very similar to the Privia 850. The Privia was my second choice but this time around we wanted ALL the bells and whistles (drumbeats, hundreds of sounds, a couple hundred prerecorded songs). I'm glad we did because Me Too has been using the piano daily for about a year just playing around with the all the features. He loves listening to all the prerecorded songs. In fact, he's the only one who knows how to turn them on. You don't need all that stuff though. I might have gotten the Privia if I hadn't been able to get this one for the same price.

  3. What did you introduce to him in his first lesson? Miss Priss wants to learn, and I started her with a simple memorization of notes exercise (a-b-c-d-e-f-g, there-are-seven-notes-for-me) to get her running through the notes, but wondered where you started with him.

    1. Ugh. Just wrote a huge reply to this and it disappeared. I have to go to bed. Will try again tomorrow.

  4. He suddenly looks so young! He's been looking older and older in each of the recent post photos! This happens to me when Legoboy moves on to something "bigger boy" - he just looks SO young again.... Oh where does the time go....
(can you tell we have a big birthday coming up!? Yikes! Double digits! ;) )
