Montessori Monday

This week looks like it will be a much more normal week for us, although all of the diversions last week were a fun break.  We were back in the school room again today.

Kal-El chose the following:
  • snap frame
  • storytelling with the Lady Who Swallowed a Fly
  • flower arranging
  • sorting beads by color
  • pouring lentils
  • drawer three of the geometric cabinet (trapezoid, trapezium, rhombus, parallelogram)
  • cylinder block three
  • marbles and suction cups
  • tong work with rubber balls
  • pink tower:  normal, usual extension (aligning the corner), and the caterpillar extension I made

Here he is returning it to the shelf.  I realized several things looking  at this next photo.  Not only do his pajama top and pajama bottom not match, but his underwear are sticking out, and I need to put the pink tower in a lower spot because he really has to stretch to get the last couple blocks on.

Me Too chose:

  • ball hammering
  • marbles and suction cups
  • cylinder blocks two and three (separately)
  • the presentation tray of the geometric cabinet (circle, square, triangle, quatrefoil, curvilinear triangle)
  • vocabulary practice and animal sounds with the Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly
  • jack-in-the-box

The boys mostly worked independently to day.  However, they both chose large rugs and tended to work side by side on the same rug rather than each at their own.  They did work together for a long time on the presentation tray from the geometric cabinet.

I let Me Too try pouring with lentils and it was a minor disaster.  I have to find something less messy for him to practice pouring with first.

After "school"  we went down to the basement and they played together for an hour while I read a book on the bean bag couch.  Not a bad morning.
